When looking for a booster club credit card, it is important to find a card that is right for you. Banks offer a lot of credit cards for small businesses. That does not mean every credit card is right for financing your booster club. When running a booster club, there is a lot to take into consideration. A booster club credit card will act as short term bridge funding for things needed to run a successful booster club such as fundraising, supplies, transportation, office supplies, renting out event spaces, catering, among other things.
Before you pick out your new business credit card, it is important to know if there are any annual fees, what the credit card’s APR is, what benefits the card has, and whether or not the bank is non-profit friendly. It is also important to know whether or not you as an individual have good credit. Business credit cards are given out on the basis that the individual person, not their business, is creditworthy.
You should consider opening a booster club credit card if your club has bigger projects planned. Bigger projects mean bigger upfront expenses. Without the proper funds, those bigger projects may underperform if you are lucky, or completely fail if you are not. A booster club credit card will ensure that your project, no matter how big, will succeed.
Capital One Spark Cash Select is a great booster club credit card option if you plan on transferring balances or want to keep an eye on what your booster club members are buying. When new members of the leadership team receive a new business credit card, there is always a concern people are using it for personal items. Spark makes it easy to track and manage individual card purchases – even freezing specific cards. While the APR is on the higher side (without flawless credit) the $0 annual fee, $0 employee card fee, and $0 foreign transaction fee balance that out. It’s solid perks and options for all credit scores make Spark Cash from Capital One a solid booster club credit card option!

If your club is more established with a solid credit rating, Blue Business Cash Card might be the ideal booster club credit card for you! The Blue Business Cash Card has a good APR if your credit is good. In addition, if your booster club travels a lot within the US (tournaments, competitions etc.) this card can be really handy! However, if for whatever reason your club travels outside of the country, its probably best to leave this card in the wallet, there are conversion fees that can add up. Some additional pros of this booster club credit card option are lower late fees, and the option to have up to 99 additional cards attached to the account. While the vast majority of clubs will not need 99 cards, its good to know that additional cards are not an issue!

When we reviewed Ink Business Cash from Chase as a booster club credit card, their no annual fee was a key consideration for a non-profit organization. Furthermore, the APR is relatively low if you have good credit. But even if your club has poorer credit, the APR is still not incredibly high. What drew us to this card as a potential booster club credit card was its overall perks. Booster clubs spend alot on printing, supplies and materials in general, and one of the key perks of this card is cash back on these types of day-to-day business needs. Another perk that caught our attention is the $750 cash bonus cash back if your club spends at least $7500 in the first 3 months. Hitting that $7500 threshold should be no problem if you have a decent fundraiser in the works! One thing to be careful about, is ensuring payment is timely – Ink Business Credit Card does charge a slightly higher late fee. Overall, this is a solid booster club credit card option for any growing organization!

>>>>> WARNING – AVOID UNLESS BUILDING CREDIT! <<<<<
Why would we list this card when we are warning you against it? Mainly because the Business Credit Card from Wells Fargo does not really have any benefits unless your organization is trying to build your business credit. For established booster clubs with solid or good credit scores, we recommend avoiding Business Secured credit card. However, if your club is newly formed or recovering from poor management, you might want to consider this as a starter booster club credit card. One point to take note before you apply for this card is that this is a SECURED credit card, meaning you are securing it with money. This is an industry standard when you start building your credit score. With that little tidbit out of the way, you then need to consider what perks are available with this card. Luckily there is no annual fee, and there are some cashback options and standard rental car and travel benefits as well. One last thought to consider before pursuing Wells Fargo as your Booster club credit card is that the company has employed some shady practices which lead to multiple lawsuits. While this may not matter currently, it should be understood as a risk with this card.
Searching for a new booster club credit card can be a bit stressful. There are hundreds of different credit cards out there, all of which have pros and cons. However, at the end of the day, it is important to consider all of your options. If your booster club does a lot of traveling, you will definitely want to get a credit card that has benefits related to that. If your booster club spends a lot of money on office supplies that is another option to consider. At the end of the day, you want to find a credit card that works best for your organizational needs which is where this article can help!
