Booostr Updates - Event Calendar and Form Builder

Introduction

It’s been yet another busy week for Booostr. While we did not have any major NEW releases this week, but we did have a MAJOR update.

The past two weeks have been focused on upgrading some key functionality with the Event Calendar tool.  Why an upgrade when we just released the Event Calendar in late Spring/early Summer? Well, as we have been working on releasing our Volunteer Sign-Up Module, we came to a realization that we really needed to make some key fixes to Booostr Event Calendar.  Those key fixes led to other fixes, and then that lead to some UX updates.  Fun!

This is pretty typical though with product development and small teams. It reminds me of a round-robin or whac-a-mole with weekly Development stand ups haha.  A tool gets released, it works pretty nicely, it gets increased use and initial bugs come up and then eventually limitations are recognized, and more and more needs to be done to make it as useful as possible :).  Normally, it is not so soon after a tool is released, but as we jumped directly into a tool (Volunteer Sign Up) that is reliant on the Event Calendar, it just became clear much more quickly.

Booostr Event Calendar - Event Details Page

The net gain is a MUCH better functioning Event Calendar tool with all of the features you would expect for a calendar AND some additional updates to make it future feature ready.  What features?  Definitely Volunteer Sign Up but perhaps… just maybe… real organized ticket sales connected to Booostr Store Manager 🙂  In addition to future features, we also included the following updates to the Event Calendar tool:

  • NEW! Recurring Events – this was a huge update for Event Calendar and allows organizations to set up an event to repeat at regular intervals.
  • NEW! Organizations can Share link to add their Calendar to Google Calendar or Apple iCal to all of their supporters.
  • NEW! Event Quick View allowing calendar viewers to see the basics of an event without loading all of the details.
  • Updated Month, Week and Day interface.
  • Updated event display in Month, Week and Day interface.
  • Updated Event Details page to new tab with unique URL for easier sharing.
  • Updated Event Details layout – so so so much better looking!
  • Added Event Location to Details Page and opens in Google Maps when clicked.
  • Added Ability to Add Single Event to calendar.
  • Faster loading of events and general code updates and fixes.

As you can see there was a ton of work put into the updated Events Calendar, but that has made it so much more stable and so much more usable!

Additional Weekly Updates

In addition to the updates to the Event Calendar tool, the team has also made some significant progress in the following areas:

  • Form Manager Tool – general updates and fixes
  • Site Builder – Tweaks and updates to connected emails
  • Site Builder – fixes and adjustments to Settings, Color Selections and Site Identity
  • Form Manager Tool – Updated default sharing image to be related to the tool – it’s actually a form illustration now 🙂

Items In Progress:

To continue our shift to transparent and open development of the platform, we also want to share some of the immediate things are that we are working on releasing.

  • Form Manager Tool – File Upload Form Element UX Update
  • Form Manager Tool – Paragraph Element Upgrade to Allow simple text formatting
  • Form Manager Tool – Headline Element Upgrade to allow simple formatting
