Introduction

The entire team at Booostr is excited to announce we have launched v 2.0 of our Events Calendar tool. The initial version launched about 8 months ago with a small adjustment in its location within the UX occurring at the beginning of the summer.  Between customer requests and our work integrating new tools into the Calendar, it became apparent we needed to update many aspects of the tool.  Here are the latest updates!

Booostr Event Calendar Monthly View

Updated Calendar Front End UX

For the Calendar Front End interface there have been a number of subtle changes.  Some of these changes have fixed some small bugs – mainly around the month display.  However other changes, have done a lot to clean up the Events Calendar layouts.  Specifically:

  • The Calendar views (month/week/day) have been overhauled and are a much cleaner display
  • Navigation between Calendar Views (month/week/day) is easier and smoother.
  • The dates/days/times are displayed more cleanly.
  • Moving forward and backward through the Calendar view is clearer and functions smoother.
  • Events are displayed in a cleaner fashion and more easily understood at a glance.

Recurring Events

Recurring Events was a tool we admittedly, were slow in releasing.  This is a critical part of any Event Calendar – especially when organizations are dealing with an activity practice or meeting that is regularly occurring.  The issue with adding Recurring Events is that it is complicated. Does an event repeat daily, every other day, every month every other month? Specific days? and so on. There are a lot of combinations to consider when trying to set an event to recur. We are really happy with the update we added to resolve Recurring Events.  Both the interface to add a recurring event and how they are displayed on the calendar view – it is easy to understand, utilize and in turn – makes the Events Calendar SO much more useful!

New! Event Quick View

One new feature that was added to the Events Calendar is a Quick View for events. In the previous version, if a viewer clicked on an event in the calendar, it would automatically take them to the full Event Details.  The issue here, is that in reality – the primary use case needs to be more succinct than loading an entire events page.  Most calendar users need to know the basics of any event they are looking at, and if they need more information – they would THEN want to view the Event Details.

Now Events Calendar v 2.0 functions exactly like this. If a Calendar viewer clicks on any event, a quick pop-up appears that shows all of the basic information of the event. If that viewer wants more details, there is a button within the quick view to take them to the full Event Details page.

Key Feature of Event Quick View:

  • Clean UX and styling
  • Quick loading view of Key event details
  • Integrated button/link to add that event to a personal calendar from the Quick View Window
  • Shows event location – linked to google maps for address entries and linked to website if a URL is entered for location
  • Button for quick access to full event details page
  • Ready for Volunteer Sign Up and Ticket Sales Integration

Booostr Event Calendar - Event Details Page

Updated Event Details Page

The team did a full overhaul of the event details page from the URL to the styling – it is basically brand new!  The primary issue with the old Event Details page was that the overall design was, well – not pretty.  We reworked the event details page to be much easier on the eyes and have clearer and cleaner display of the event details. On top of the UX updates we  also added some new functionality to the event details page.

Key Feature of Event Details View:

  • Clean UX and styling
  • Unique Event URL for easier sharing
  • Sharing feature updated and integrated into page.
  • Integrated button/link to add that event to a personal calendar
  • Shows event location – linked to google maps for address entries and linked to url if url entered for location
  • Button for quick access to full event details page
  • Ready for Volunteer Sign Up and Ticket Sales Integration

NEW! Sync Calendar With Google and Apple Calendars

Last, but absolutely NOT least is a pretty handy update that we have added to Events Calendar manager. Now, Profile managers have access to a a unique .ics link for their organization calendar which they are able to copy and share with supporters. The ICS link is key to allowing organization supporters sync your nonprofits Calendar Events to their calendar of choice – Google, Outlook or Apple. Adding an ICS link to any calendar is a fairly straightforward process once your supporters have the right ICS link!

The main advantage to this update is that organizations can now centralize their events on Booostr and allow their supporters to sync the organizations events to their favorite calendar of choice! When your organization adds, updates or deletes an event, that update is synced to every suppoerts’ calendar that has implemented the connection. Easier workflow for your organization and another key way to engage with your volunteers!

Events Calendar Wrap Up

It may not seem like an Events Calendar is a critical tool for a small nonprofit. However once you start considering the tools that can integrate with the calendar and how it can interact with your supporters – it’s value continues to grow! We are really excited about the updates we have made to Events Calendar and are even MORE excited for the tools we will be connecting and integrating in the short term. If you haven’t started using Booostr Events Calendar, now is the time to take it for a spin!  As always – questions, issues or want to check out some tools in action?  Contact us here, we can’t WAIT to work with your team!
