Booostr Form Manager Tool Updates

Introduction

We hope everyone had a HAPPY Halloween and a HAPPY Diwali! We are really excited to announce we have launched some pretty amazing updates to our Form Manager Tool that make it even MORE versatile for everyone! This update includes a few fixes, some vast improvements on existing functionality AND BRAND NEW FEATURES!  Soooo, where should we start?  NEW FEATURES of course!

Booostr Form Manager Tool - Add Header Image to Form Update.

 

NEW! Add A Header Image To Booostr Forms

When first launching the Form Manager tool, we were focused on an easy to use tool that has a super simple CLEAN front end landing page style. We really feel like we accomplished this task – so much so, that one of our main requests was how to personalize the landing page – even just a little bit!  From our experience there is a fine line of personalization that can help make a page or tool more useful.  Otherwise, it is quite easy to go the route of MySpace (yes we are aging ourselves here) where things just go haywire with customizations. Our goal is the former, not the latter haha.

To keep things clean from a design perspective we came up with a solution to allow profile managers the ability to add an OPTIONAL header image to their form landing pages.  This functionality has been added only to General Use Forms, not Product or Donation Campaign Forms. When you create or edit a form, there is a new field in STEP 2, that allows you to drag and drop or search your local computer for an background header to add. Simply upload an image under 1MB in size and that image will show on your Form Landing Page.  The biggest win for this, is that now your nonprofit or booster club is able to personalize each and every form you create so that when your supporters go to fill out the form, it feels even more on-brand for your organization!

 

Booostr Form Manager Tool - Updated File Upload

Updated! Upload File Upload Form Element

One form element that has been causing a bit of a headache for users filling out forms, is the File Upload element.  The original version launched with the tool, was a basic choose an image from your local computer, and it uploads with the form.  The problem that organizations were running into, is that the form submitters were submitting the wrong image. So, to help our organizations, in turn help their supporters – we reworked the File Upload element that shows in the form.

Now, instead of the file upload being  a simple find a file and add it to the form to be submitted with the form.  The new UX allows the person filling out the form to drag and drop a file OR search for it. When they select a file to add, we have custom error messaging that shows if the file type is not accepted OR if it is over 1 MB limit.  Beyond that, when the file is added to the File Upload form element a preview appears to show image uploads (extra verification for the form submitter) or an icon for file types such as Word Documents, Excel Files, CSV or PDF files. Finally – YES, there is more :), if the user selected the wrong file and wants to change it before they submit, they can delete the preview file image/icon and then re-choose a new file to upload.  This isn’t really crazy new technology we are implementing, but instead we are working to improve rough areas with best in class updates and solutions to make these tools even easier to use!

 

Updated! Dynamic Form Embed Code

Another small issue that has come up pretty regularly with the Form Manager Tool is the Embed Code feature.  The initial release of the Form Manager tool included a basic, static embed code for each form. This was perfectly fine to get started with, however, as more and more organizations used the Form Manager, what we found out is that the embed code was not long enough (forms getting cut off) AND not everyone was familiar with how to edit embed code to get it to show more.  Furthermore, this went FULLY against our no-code mantra by essentially only allowing people to fix it by – going into the (embed) code!  Doh!  This was a small oversight on our part, but as SOON as we found out about it, we jumped on it and included an update with this release!

Now, when a form is created, we have built the code to DYNAMICALLY insert the correct height and width into the Form Embed code that is based on the elements included in the form being created.  Furthermore, the code can identify how long the text is for Text Area elements and how many total elements and their relative heights AND include the automatic spacing between elements that is included in the form tool.  The net, net is that now the Embed Code actually allows organziations to showcase any length form on any external page or website.

 

Fixes, Tweaks and Updates to Form Manager Tool

In addition to the primary updates noted above, the team also made the following fixes and updates to the Form Manager Tool.  Together we feel that this release will really help small nonprofits and booster clubs make better use of the Form Manager tool to in turn make a bigger impact!

  • Updated CSV/Excel Form Results Files to only include Submitted Data
  • Fixed Copy and Paste issue with Form Headline and Text Area Form elements
  • Signature Draw Form Element tweaks and fixes
  • Updated Header Element in manager to be titled Headline in manager
  • Minor Form Tool CSS Bugs fixed
